June Shafer Hoce

June Shafer Hoce, 79, of Carbon Hill, passed away Monday, December 1, 2009 at her residence. She was born June 8, 1930, in Nelsonville, daughter of the late James W. and Martha Blosser Shafer. June was the widow of the late Neil Hoce.

She retired as an officer from the First National Bank in Nelsonville, was a member of the Nelsonville Elks Lodge #543, was a past president of the Emblem Club and member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. June loved making baby quilts, was an avid bird watcher and nature lover and loved her grandchildren.

She is survived by sons, Jeffrey Gail Fisk of Worthington and Rex Marilyn Fisk of Buchtel; daughters, Nancy Flowers of New Marshfield and Martha Mark Payne of New Port Richey, Florida; stepchildren, Kris Shelly Hoce of Canfield and Charley Janelle Hoce of West Manchester;, Marji Cardaras of Lancaster; grandchildren, Chris Flowers, Heather Campbell, Uriah Fisk, Lacey Cook and Cory Fisk; great grandchildren, Taylor Fisk, Emma and Owen Campbell, Jonah and Noah Flowers, Charlie Jo Fisk and Aiden Fisk; a brother, Bob Shafer of Albany and a sister, Ruth Brooker of Nelsonville;

In addition to her parents and husband, June was preceded in death by an infant son; a brother, Jimmy Shafer and sisters, Amelia Evans, Alberta Collins, Birchie Colbert, Bessie Shafer, Vera Newman and Margaret Campbell.

Junes wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held 4 P.M., Friday, December 4, 2009 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Pastor Mike Thomas officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 2-8 P.M and on Friday one hour prior to the service. VFW Ladies Auxiliary services will be held Thursday, at 7 P.M. and Elks services will be held at 7:30 P.M.
