Vearl J. Marteney, 63, of McArthur, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster. He was born July 18, 1946 in Melrose, West Virginia, son of the late Andrew Jackson and Ora May Lambert Marteney. Vearl was married to Mary Ann Betts Marteney, who survives.

He retired after 44 years of service as an inspector from Midwest Fabricating.

In addition to his wife Mary Ann, Vearl is survived by sons, David Marteney of McArthur and Jason Marteney of Buckeye Lake; daughters, Katrina Toby Humphrey of Latham, Ohio and Tracey Liller of McArthur; grandchildren, Joshua Sarah Hartley of Grove City, Mandy Marteney of Melbourne, Florida, Emalee Marteney of McArthur and Austyn Marteney of Lancaster; brothers, Henry Marteney of Columbus, Clinton Marteney of Lake City, Florida, Willie ""Buck"" Marteney of Newark and Charles Marteney of Crooksville; sisters, Idella Lamb of Lancaster and Shelby Brown of Croton, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Emory Marteney and Andrew Marteney Jr. and sisters, Edith James, Betty Edmond, Ruth Williams and Mary Marteney.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Friday, December 11, 2009 in the Allensville Church of Christ In Christian Union Church with Pastor Phil DeMint officiating. Interment will be in Garrett Cemetery, Allensville. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur on Thursday, from 4-8 P.M. and on Friday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
