Ardis Berneil Beal

January 9, 1925 — February 27, 2010

Ardis Berneil Beal went to be with her Lord on February 27, 2010 at the Pickering House Hospice Facility. She was born in southeastern Iowa to Rex and Irene Brown Koonts on January 9, 1925, and died at the age of eighty-five.

Berneil graduated from Cantril, Iowa high School in 1941 and from Wheaton College in Illinois in 1948. In 1944 she committed her life to Jesus Christ. She worked at Sears in Chicago as a stenographer and correspondent for several years, including her time in college. After college she was a secretary in the office of TEAM foreign mission board.

Berneil is survived by her husband, Rev. Everett Beal married June 11, 1950, three children?Larry Erin Beal of Logan; Lorene Beal of Feasterville, Pennsylvania; and Air Force Col. Lonny Elizabeth Beal of Sumter, South Carolina, and by granddaughters, Natalie Michael McLaughlin of Columbus, Noelle Beal of Logan, and Jessica Beal of Sumter, South Carolina. She is survived by one sister, LaVon Hannam in Iowa, plus many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, and by two children, Terry Alan and Irene Ruth Beal.

Everett and Berneil moved to Logan in 1990 after serving six different pastorates in Iowa, Illinois and Ohio. Here she commenced the free AARP tax service. She volunteered by teaching Bible classes at Logan Christian School for several years. She also volunteered with Someone Cares crisis pregnancy center for more than 18 years.

Arrangements are with the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St, Logan. Visitation with the family will be held at Ebenezer Baptist Church on Sunday, March 7th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A service to celebrate Christ in her life will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Stephen Hubbard officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery, followed by a time of fellowship at the church. In lieu of flowers, gifts toward missionary service may be given through Ebenezer Baptist Church or a mission ministry of one?s choice.
