Merle Jeanette Patterson, 89, of Allensville, passed away Monday, March 29, 2010 at Jenkins Memorial Health Facility in Wellston. She was born February 17, 1921 in Vales Mills, Vinton County, Ohio, daughter of the late Calvin Everett and Bessie Mae Bond Gregory. Merle was the widow of the late Elmer Dwane Patterson.
She was a retired post mistress in Allensville, a member of Log Pile Church of Christ in Christian Union, the Vinton County Senior Citizens Center, RSVP, the Good Cheer Club and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #5299.
Merle is survived by sons, Dwane ""Ed"" Verna Patterson of Beaver, William Oren Carolyn Patterson of Waverly and James Everett Connie Patterson of Londonderry; daughters, Rebecca Lee James Israel Cartwright of Ray and Betty Mae Thomas of Allensville; nineteen grandchildren; thirty eight great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Deanne Patterson; a great grandson, Reagan Alexander Cartwright; three brothers, Howard, Robert and Bill Gregory and two sisters, Ethel Tripp and Oma Graves.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, April 1, 2010 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur with Rev. Jim McFadden and Rev. Billy ""Butch"" Cooper officiating. Interment will be in Bell Cemetery, Vinton County. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M.
