Elizabeth Louise Betty Fryman

August 14, 1921 — April 20, 2010

Elizabeth Louise ""Betty"" Fryman, 88, of Nelsonville, formerly of Stockport, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. She was born on August 14, 1921 in Dayton and was the daughter of the late David and Nancy Louisa Manington McConnaughey. Betty was married to Richard Fryman, who survives.

She graduated from Ohio University in 1943, earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in photography, where she served on the staff of the Athena yearbook and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She was an avid reader, an accomplished jewelry maker and angel food cake baker. Betty served as a caseworker for Montgomery County Job and Family Services, as an assistant to the dean at the University of Dayton and as a magazine editor. She volunteered with Good Works, My Sisters' Place and the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She will be sadly missed and remembered with love.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Todd Derrith Wieman Clark and Nathan Rhonda Clark, all of Houston, Texas; her granddaughters, Eartha Zoe Wieman of Chicago, Illinois and Maria Clark, of Madison, Wisconsin; sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Robert Sheskey of Nelsonville; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Boraiko of Apollo Beach, Florida and Mary Morgan of Athens, a very special niece who graciously cared for her, Margaret Sheskey of Athens; nieces and nephews, Nancy and Rocky Smathers of Buchtel, Susan and Ken Scarbro of Columbus, Linda and David Keyes of Hilliard, Debby Sheskey of Nelsonville, Kathy and Bob Moore of Newark, Keith Morgan and Dr. Lyn Peterson of Salt Lake City, Utah; ten great nieces and nephews and cousins Robert and Laurel DuLaney of Schaumberg, Illinois, and Don DuLaney of Wheaton, Illinois.

Betty was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law Jeanne and Roger Morgan; her brother and sister-in-law David and Betty Story McConnaughey.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Saturday, April 24, 2010 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, with Father David Cornett officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Buchtel. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, one hour prior to the service.
