Judith Ann ?Judy? WintersVavul, age 67 of Dayton, Ohio, peacefully died and went to the arms of the Lord on April 23, 2010, surrounded by her family following a progressive decline in health.
Judy was born May 19, 1942, at her grandmother?s home in Hamden, Ohio. She graduated from Linden-McKinley High School in Columbus, Ohio, in 1960. Judy was actively involved in Glee Club and Drama Club. Judy worked for the Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Company and at the Texaco Company in Columbus, Ohio, before marrying in 1965. She embraced a life-long love of theatre, music, poetry, nature, and devoted involvement with her church. Judy?s steadfast kindness, selfless love for others, gentle grace, and enduring beauty will forever remain a miraculous blessing to all who were touched by her presence. May her memory be eternal.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Elsie Ruth McWilliams Winters and Thomas Wayne Winters; son, Eric Andrew; brother, James Thomas Winters, and her nephew, Timothy Winters. Judy is survived by her husband, Andrew Vavul; daughter and son-in-law, Lori Vavul-Roediger and Michael Roediger; grandson, Richard Roediger; sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Max Rogers; many other loving family members.
Judy?s family extends gratitude to staff at Mercy Siena Retirement Center on the Generose and McCauley floors, especially to Dee, Joanie, Judy, Mary, Melanie, Tara, Melissa, Heather, Dorothy, and Lonzie for lovingly caring for Judy. Thanks is also given to Hospice of Dayton for special support.
Dayton visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, from 4-6 PM with a Funeral Service immediately following at Baker-Hazel & Snider Funeral Home, 5555 Philadelphia Dr. at N. Main St., Dayton, Ohio 45415.
A second visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 from 12-1:30 PM with a Funeral Service immediately following at Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St, McArthur, Ohio 45651. Interment Elk Cemetery, McArthur, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made in memory of Judith Vavul to the Society for the Improvement of the Condition of Stray Animals SICSA of Dayton, Ohio.
