Edward R. Nickels

Edward R. Nickels, 81, of McArthur, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2010 at his residence. He was born October 17, 1928 in Vinton County, son of the late Roy and Bessie Storers Nickels. Ed was married to Alice Stewart Nickels, who survives.

Ed retired from Austin Powder Company and attended Allensville Church of Christ In Christian Union.

He is survived by his sons, Jerry Sue Swackhammer of Hamden, Dean Nickels of McArthur and Richard Dixie Nickels of McArthur; daughters, Evelyn Gilliland and Debbie Graham both of McArthur; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and a sister, Myrtle Mitchell of McArthur.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brothers, William, Orville and Harvey Nickels and sisters, Florence Murdock and Mary Reynolds.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Thursday, April 29, 2010 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur with Pastor Phil DeMint officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 4-8 P.M.
