Robert Eugene Bob Smith

Robert Eugene ""Bob"" Smith, 73, of Columbus, passed away Monday, May 17, 2010 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in The Plains. He was born July 25, 1936 in Columbus, son of the late Olen A. and Hannah Steele Smith. Bob was married to the late Goldie May Kessinger Smith.

He was a retired mail carrier.

Bob is survived by sons, Robert Smith and Mark A. Smith both of Lancaster; daughters, Sheryl Robert Thrapp of New Straitsville, Penny Dwayne Gates of Lancaster and Brenda John Heidlebaugh of Logan; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brothers, Don Smith of Grove City and David Smith of Columbus and a sister, Kathy Radcliff of Texas.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jo Ann Walker and granddaughter, Jackie Hill.

Graveside services will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, May 20, 2010 in Elk Cemetery, McArthur with Rev. Edward Taylor officiating. No calling hours will be observed. Arrangements are by Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan.
