Charles Edward Chalk Dickerson

Charles Edward ""Chalk"" Dickerson, 75, of Nelsonville, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Doctors Hospital in Nelsonville. He was born June 14, 1934 in Coonville, Ohio, son of the late Rev. Harry and Ruth Allbaugh Dickerson. Charles was married for 57 years to Mona Lighfritz Dickerson, who survives.

He retired from the Athens County Engineers office, was a Waterloo Township Trustee, a former self employed truck driver and was a member of Oak Grove Wesleyan Church.

Charles is survived by a son, Rick Elizabeth Dickerson of Nelsonville; daughters, Susan Robert Bartlett of Chauncey and Lisa Tony Congrove of Athens; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brothers, Harry Norma Dickerson of Logan and Gerald Patty Dickerson of Logan; sister, Wanda Sabo of Nelsonville and sister-in-law, Kathy Randy Miller of Nelsonville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steve Dickerson and sister, Emma Jean Saylor.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Saturday, May 22, 2010 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. David Cogar officiating. Interment will be in New Marshfield Cemetery, New Marshfield. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M.
