Charles R. Fairchild

Charles R. ""Charlie"" Fairchild, 70, of Creola, passed away Friday, May 28, 2010 at his residence. He was born August 17, 1939 in Johnson County, Kentucky, son of the late Roy and Arvie Spradlin Fairchild. Charles was married to Norma Collins Fairchild, who survives, for almost 48 years.

Charlie was a retired, loyal and dedicated employee of CSX railroad for 43 years.

In addition to his wife, Charlie is survived by two daughters, Rita Gilland and Loretta William McKinney both of Columbus; a son, Charles Richard Fairchild of Creola; six grandchildren, a great granddaughter; many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 5 P.M., Tuesday, June 1, 2010 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur with Brother Stan Unklesbay officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. Friends may call Tuesday from 2-5 P.M. at the funeral home.
