Rev. Marvin Dale Markin, 72, of Wilkesville, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2010 at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens. He was born August 14, 1937 in Vinton County, son of the late George and Opal McCathren Markin. Rev. Markin was married to the late Alice Josephine Grounds Markin.
He is the minister at Black Oak Freewill Baptist Church. Rev. Markin has been a minister for 53 years with 22 years at Black Oak Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by sons, Dale Tami Markin and Chris Amy Markin all of Logan; daughters, Debi J.R. Burns of Vinton, Ohio and Karen C.D. McIntyre of Johnstown; fifteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren and brothers, Kenny and Porky Markin of Wilkesville and Stanley Markin of McArthur.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Wednesday, June 9, 2010 in the Black Oak Freewill Baptist Church, Union Ridge Rd., McArthur with Rev. Robert Fulton and Rev. Edward Barney officiating. Interment will be in Harkins Chapel Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur on Tuesday, from 4-8 P.M. and one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.
