Rev. Everett S. Beal

December 17, 1927 — July 3, 2010

Rev. Everett S. Beal went to be with his Lord on July 3, 2010, while visiting his son and daughter-in-law, Colonel Lonny Beal and wife, Elizabeth, in Sumter, South Carolina. He was born in Western Illinois to Phonso and Elizabeth Greenland Beal on December 17, 1927.

He graduated from Colchester Illinois High School in 1945, from Shurtliff College in 1948 and from Northern Baptist Seminary in 1951. Rev. Beal committed his life to Christ while in high school and made the commitment to full-time ministry while in college.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Berneil Beal, on February 27, 2010, after nearly sixty years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and two children, Terry Alan Beal and Irene Ruth Beal. Rev. Beal is survived by three children, Larry Erin Beal of Logan; Lorene Beal of Featerville, Pennsylvania and Air Force Colonel Lonny Elizabeth Beal of Sumter, South Carolina; by granddaughter Natalie Michael McLaughlin of Upper Arlington, Noelle Beal of Logan and Jessica Beal of Sumter, South Carolina. He is survived by one sister, Caroline Moffit of Illinois and one brother, Rev. Alan Beal of Illinois, and many nieces and nephews.

Everett and Berneil moved to Logan in 1990, after serving six different pastorates in Iowa, Illinois and Ohio. While living in Logan, Everett helped to provide free AARP tax services. He met weekly with several local pastors and served as a deacon at Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Arrangements are being made by Cardaras Funeral Home of Logan. Visitation with the family will be held at Ebenezer Baptist Church on Sunday, July 11, 2010 from 1:00 P.M to 3:00 P.M. A service to celebrate Christ in his life will follow at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor Stephen Hubbard officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery, followed by a time of fellowship at the church. In lieu of flowers, gifts toward missionary service may be given through Ebenezer Baptist Church, Gideons International, or a mission ministry of one's choice.
