Winnie L. Skaggs

Winnie L. Skaggs, 75, of McArthur, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 at her residence. She was born January 19, 1935 in Norfolk, Virginia, daughter of the late Roland Spivey and Hazel Twiford. Winnie was the widow of the late Richard Skaggs.

She retired from PERS and was active with the Vinton County Senior Citizens and the McArthur Monday Marvelous Matrons of the Red Hat Society.

Winnie is survived by a son, William Nelligar of Florida; daughters, Audrey Gordon Martin of Creola and Linda Bill Martin of Kingsland, Georgia and one brother, Ed Lewis Jr. of Georgia.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Gatewood Nelligar; one brother and one sister.

Winnie's wishes were to be cremated. No calling hours will be observed. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High Street, McArthur.
