Alice J. Jayjohn

Alice J. Jayjohn, 90, of Hamden, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Huston Nursing Home in Hamden. She was born February 19, 1920 in Radcliff, daughter of the late Arthur and Flora Nunnemaker McClaskey. Alice was the widow of the late Charles Sylvester Jayjohn.

She was the former clerk at the Hamden General Store. Alice attended the Hamden United Methodist Church, she was a former clerk for McBees during WWII and graduated from Hamden High School in 1941. She was the treasure for the Vinton County Senior Citizens Center, a RSVP Boad Member and a Care Outreach Volunteer.

Alice is survived by her brothers, Frank McClaskey of McArthur and Arthur Barbara McClaskey of Lima; a sister, Maggie Waldron of Hamden; special nieces, Gail Worrix, Linda Maerker and Ann Leonard all of Hamden; a special friend, Rhoda Price of Hamden and several other nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, John McClaskey; sisters, Bessie Brickles, Mary Jayjohn and Helen Perkins and a half sister, Marie Lowe.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Friday, July 16, 2010 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High Street, McArthur with Rev. Rodney Rogers officiating. Interment will be in Hamden Cemetery, Hamden. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 4-8 P.M.
