Rev. Paul Andrew Johnson

Rev. Paul Andrew Johnson, 84, of Carbon Hill, passed away, July 23, 2010 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan. He was born September 4, 1925 in Bellaire, Ohio, the son of the late William J. Johnson and Idella Wieneke Johnson Brannon. He was married to Charlotte A. Budd Johnson, who survives, for 59 years.

Rev. Johnson has received more than 30 achievement awards including honors from Bellaire High School, Eureka College, Lexington Theological Seminary and the Christian Church in Ohio. He also served as the honorary Chairman for the levy to build the Beacon School building. In 1987, he received the Outstanding Senior Citizen Award from the Ohio Department of Aging and in 2004, was inducted into the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame. Rev. Johnson was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy and was the sponsor of the ships reunion since 1988 and in 1996 he was inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame. He just celebrated his 60th year of Ordination in the Christian Ministry in June 2010.

Rev. Johnson is survived by a son, James D. Sue Johnson of Reynoldsburg; two daughters, Carol J. Jim Dawley of Carbon Hill and Lois Smith of Mineral Bluff, Georgia; six grandchildren, Michael Courtney Dawley, Andrew Dawley, Matthew Dawley, Ericka Danny Amabile, Melissa David Book and Jennifer Smith; five great grandchildren, Ryder and Ethan Dawley, Hannah Johnson, Hailey Book and Julian Amabile; three sisters, Rose M. Farmer of Moundsville, WV, Joyce Mellott of Shadyside and Elizabeth Stillion of Bellaire and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Rev. Johnson was preceded in death by three brothers, William J., Roy W. and Howard E. Johnson.

A funeral service will be held at the Chauncey Christian Church, High St., Chauncey at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 27, 2010 with Rev Deanna White, Rev Morgan Wickizer, Rev. Kenneth Coy, Rev. David Mellott, Rev. Steve Bentley and Debbie Koons officiating. Interment will be at Carbon Hill Cemetery, Carbon Hill. Friends may call Monday, July 26, 2010 from 2-8 PM at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville and Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
