Eleanor A. Crow, 71, of Logan, passed away Monday, August 16, 2010 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan. She was born May 21, 1939 in Hocking County, daughter of the late James Winters and Lillian Rheinscheld Winters Hildabolt. Eleanor was married to George L. Crow, who survives.
She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Logan, a TWIG II member and Past President, a Hocking Valley Community Hospital Auxiliary Member and Past President and in 2003 she was awarded the Dolly Kleinschmidt, Hocking Valley Community Hospital Volunteer Award. Eleanor was the Chairman for the Hocking Valley Community Hospital Foundation Auction Committee for 21 years, a member of the Hocking Valley Community Foundation Golf Committee for 21 years and was the Past President State Auxiliary Leader for the Ohio Hospital Association. She was the 2010 President for Hocking County United Way and with her husband, George, Eleanor was on the Empty Bowl Steering Committee and was a Major Donor. She also taught pottery classes at her OutBack Studio. With her husband George, Elly was a Lilyfest Volunteer and Sponsor, a past Girl Scout Leader in Hocking County, a past Certified Red Cross Life Guard and was awarded with her husband, George, the 2007 ""You're a Bowen Treasure"" award. She was a member of Four Seasons Garden Club, was a Past member of the Hocking Hills Country Club Ladies Golf League and was a Past President of the Women's Golf League. In 1990, she won Best of Show ""Festival of Tree"" from the Columbus Children's Hospital Auxiliary and in 1992; she was a finalist for the Columbus Dispatch Service Award. Eleanor was honored in 1999 by the Logan Chamber of Commerce with the Barton Holl Citizenship Award and in 2000, she was the recipient of the Hocking Valley Community Hospital Foundation Service Award.
Eleanor is survived by her cousin, John Mary Jo Rheinscheld of Big Springs, Texas and her loving pets, Fudge, Snuggles, Missybear, Muffin and Sophia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James P. Crow and her stepfather, John Hildabolt.
A memorial service will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, September 2, 2010 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Logan. No calling hours will be observed. Arrangements are by Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan.
