Betty H. Butts

Betty H. Butts, 85, a longtime resident of Nelsonville, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Huston Nursing Home, Hamden. She was born January 4, 1925 in Athens, the daughter of the late Samuel and Erma Thompson Henderson. She was the widow of the late Dr. Robert Butts, who served as Athens County Coroner for many years.

Betty was active in promoting the City of Nelsonville and assisting her husband in his duties as Coroner.

Betty is survived by her brother, Samuel T. Henderson of Athens and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by sisters, Laura Poling, Dolores Rose and Shirley Hensel.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 10, 2010 at Greenlawn Cemetery New Addition, Nelsonville with Rev. Karen Walters officiating. No visitation will be observed.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Nelsonville Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 276, Nelsonville, Ohio 45764
