Ovid ""Pete"" Murray, age 77, passed away on October 17, 2010 at his home in Gahanna, Ohio. Pete was born on February 13, 1933 in Vinton County, Ohio, to the late Emmett and Blanche Lacy Murray. Also preceded in death by his daughter, Beverly and his brothers, Quintin, Mel, Roy and Ron.

Pete was on the cutting edge of the Pizza explosion in the 1960's and 1970's in Central Ohio. He was one of the original Pizza Entrepreneurs in Columbus, once owning 13 Dino's Pizza Restaurants in his company's largest days. Pete was in business for over 50 years and also owned several bars, pubs, jewelry shops and other businesses. He was an avid fisherman and golfer throughout his life. He most enjoyed playing golf and fishing with his brothers, nephews and many friends. Pete also was an avid Harness Racing fan, who owned a horse farm and horses in Circleville, Ohio. He enjoyed going to Scioto Downs and watching his favorite horses. In his later years he devoted most of his time and resources to his daughter, granddaughter and his last remaining business, Dino's Pizza and Pub. He will be remembered most for his keen intellect, business brilliance, boldness, humor and outstanding work ethic. Always quick witted with many jokes and one line funnies.

Pete is survived by a daughter, Ovida Loreen McCracken of Gahanna; granddaughter, McKenzi Loreen McCracken of Gahanna; sisters, Evalee Elbert Maxwell of Gahanna and Imelda Chaney of Vinton County and many nieces, nephews, friends and business associates.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Thursday, October 21, 2010 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Vinton County. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M.
