James V. Huffman

James V. Huffman, 90, of Logan, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Logan Health Care Center. He was born October 9, 1920 in Logan, son of the late Walter P. and Florence E. Smith Huffman. James was married to the late Mary Eversole Huffman.

He was a retired colonel from the United States Army after 30 years, was a WWII Army Veteran and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Logan. James was a member of the Retired Officers Association, a life member of the American Legion, a life a member of the VFW and past President of the Logan Kiwanis Club. He was also a member of the Mingo Lodge # 171 F&AM, a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, the Aladdin Temple Shrine, a former member of the HVCH Trustees and the HVCH Foundation when it was formed.

James is survived by a son, Larry M. Edna Huffman; a granddaughter, Crystal Matthew Henderson and a great grandson, Daniel Henderson all of Logan.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Jane Johnston Huffman and brothers, John D. and Walter ""Boone"" Huffman Jr.

Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Saturday, October 23, 2010 in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan with Rev. Brian Arnold officiating. Interment will be Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan, with military graveside services being conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard Unit. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of James V. Huffman, to the HVCH Foundation, P.O. Box 966, Logan, Ohio 43138.
