Robert ?Bob? L. Mays, 83, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2010.
Bob was a resident of Norton for 47 years and he retired from PPG Industries after 35 years of service. Bob was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, former president of the Barberton Civitan Club and lifetime member of Doylestown American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Phyllis; children, Lynn of Akron, Sue of Wooster, Connie of Kentucky, Romilda of Oregon and Ronnie of Cincinnati; grandsons, Buddy and Adam; nine other grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty, Opal and Sharon all of Columbus, Barbara Ann and Mildred of Pa., Dottie of Logan, Ohio; brother, Sam of Carbon Hill, Ohio; many nieces, nephews; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Audrey; son, Tony Shields; daughter, Roberta Greathouse; brothers, Chuck, Dan, Leonard and Larry and two infant sisters.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Tuesday, December 14, 2010 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville. Interment will be in Dawley Cemetery, Carbon Hill, with military graveside services being conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 2-4 P.M. and 7-9 P.M.
