Dorsey E. ""Red"" Butcher, 72, of McArthur, passed away Monday, January 3, 2011, surrounded by his family. He was born March 31, 1938 in Ross County, son of the late Dorsey and Mary McGill Butcher. Red was married to the late Thelma Thacker Butcher.
He retired from Vinton County Recycling Program and was a member of Antioch Church in Allensville.
Red is survived by sons, Larry Butcher and Randy Ina Butcher both of McArthur; a daughter, Missy Karl Smith of Louisiana; grandchildren, Ashley Joseph Schrader, Kaitlyn Butcher, Christopher Butcher, Dustin Butcher, Kasi Steele and Devon Steele; brothers, Everett Nancy Butcher, Clarence Butcher and Allen Debbie Butcher all of Chillicothe; sisters-in-law, Alta Roy Pierce of McArthur, Judy Randy Woods of Zaleski, Riney Paul Frasure of Bainbridge, Kathy Thacker of McArthur and Carol Thacker of McArthur and brothers-in-law, Terry Marsha Thacker of McArthur and Ballard Thacker of McArthur.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Butcher and brothers-in-law, Alvin and Earl Thacker.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, January 6, 2011 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, Rev. Don Shoemaker officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 5-8 P.M.
