Pamela J. Dotson, age 61, of Logan, OH, passed away January 15, 2011 at the home of her parents after a four-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born May 24, 1949 in Columbus, OH, and was the only child of Patricia and Max Leonard.
She is survived by her parents, maternal aunt, Norma Norris of Lancaster, and numerous cousins. She also leaves her beloved puppy, Isabella.
She was a 1967 graduate of Carroll High School. She received her Bachelor of Education Degree in 1971 and Masters of Education Degree in 1989 from Ohio University. She recently retired from the Logan-Hocking School District after 38 years of teaching first and sixth graders. As a Master Teacher, she always had time to help her colleagues and was Department Chairperson for many years. She was elected by The Logan Education Association, to whom she was a member, to the prestigious Educator's Hall of Fame this fall. She taught at Carroll, South Bloomingville, East, Central, and Middle Schools. The Highly Qualified Teacher's love of children was expressed through her fun-loving, exceptional teaching. Teaching was the reason for her being. She has touched the lives of thousands of children in Hocking County. She was active in the Carroll High School Class of 1967 Alumni Association and enjoyed seeing classmates at the various events. She was a licensed real estate agent with Hocking Valley Realty in Logan. Her favorite past time was shopping and eating out with her dear friend, Bonnie White.
At the request of the Ms. Dotson there will be no calling hours. Cardaras Funeral Home of Logan is making the cremation arrangements. Rev. Rick Bennington will be conducting a service, at the convenience of the family.
