Verna L. Decker

Verna L. Decker, 75, of Nelsonville, passed away Monday, January 17, 2011 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. She was born October 26, 1935 in Athens County, daughter of the late Benjamin and Lena Smith Six. Verna was the widow of the late Clifford E. Decker.

She was a member of the Athens American Legion.

Verna is survived by her daughters, Susan Rodney Bennett of Nelsonville and Debra Steve Conner of Glouster; a special nephew, Keith Weston of Nelsonville nine grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren; sisters, Juanita Decker of Nelsonville and Marlene Sherman Durfee of Nelsonville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Roberta Hinerman and her brother, Pete Smith.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Friday, January 21, 2011 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, with Rev. King Kelly officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 6-7 P.M.
