Francis Bryan Castor Sr., 89, of Hamden, passed away, Saturday, February 5, 2011 at VA Medical Center, Chillicothe. He was born January 12, 1922 in Vinton County, son of the late Bryan and Edna Hoyd Castor. He was married to Freda Eberts Castor, who survives.
Francis was retired from Austin Powder and also worked at the Vinton County Health Department. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army and a life member of the Albany VFW Post 9893 as well as a member of the Hamden Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Francis Bryan ""Bud"" Pam Castor, Jr. of Catlettsburg, Kentucky and Roger E. Castor and girlfriend Deidra Willis of Hamden; a daughter, Jo-Ann F. Butch Warren of Hamden; daughter-in-law, Joyce Seymour of Hamden; five grandchildren, Diane Greg Beckner of Hamden, Brian Sandy Castor of Ashland, Kentucky, Teri John Marshall of Rush, Kentucky, Wayne Warren, Jr. of Dundas and Tiffany Castor of Hamden; six great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sisters, Mildred Ratcliff and Esther Bell both of McArthur; a sister-in-law Jo-Ann Castor of Zaleski and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Ray, Cecil and Arnett Castor and sisters, Marguerite Craig and Laura Woodard.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur with Rev. Randy Minton officiating. Interment will be at Hamden Cemetery where military graveside services will be conducted by McArthur VFW Post 5299. Friends may call Monday, February 7, 2011 from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
