Michael Ward Barber

Michael Ward Barber, 18, of Albany, passed away Monday, February 7, 2011 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He was born December 28, 1992 in Athens, son of Roger Dale Barber of Albany and Linda Smith of Latham.

Michael was a junior at Vinton County High School.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers, Roger Dale Barber Jr. of Albany and Joshua Smith of Tennessee; sisters, Jessica L. Barber of McArthur, Rachel L. Barber of Latham and Jennifer Brooks of McArthur; paternal grandparents, John Betty Barber of Albany; maternal grandmother, Helen Montgomery of Latham; special uncle, Greg Leslie Barber of Albany; aunts, Darlene Paul Morris of Carlisle, Jackie Smith of Latham and Leslie Goodrich of Latham; special cousins, John Barber Jr. and Ruthie Heidenbech and several other cousins and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Jack Smith and uncle, Michael Smith.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, February 12, 2011 in the Calvary Assembly of God Church, 63849 US Highway 50, McArthur, with Pastor Carl Radcliff officiating. Interment will be in Harkins Chapel Cemetery, Vinton County. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur on Friday, from 5-8 P.M. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
