Benjamin A. Allen, 89, of Nelsonville, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born November 26, 1921 in Hocking County, son of the late John M. and Naomi Wolfe Allen. Ben was married to the late Dollie Clark Allen.

He was a partner of the former Allen Lumber Company and retired from Athens County D.D. School. Ben was a WWII Navy Veteran and a loyal member of Oak Grove Wesleyan Church. He loved the outdoors and walking in the woods with his dogs.

Ben is survived by a son, Timothy Terrie Allen of Centerburg, Ohio; daughters, Donna Bud Breeze of Nelsonville, Janet Joe Riley of Nelsonville and Tammy David Brey of Delaware, Ohio; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren and his special friend, Kirby.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Dianna Todd; four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Wednesday, March 2, 2011 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, with Rev. Dave Cogar officiating. Interment will be in Connett Cemetery, Athens County, with military graveside services being conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M.
