Rachel L. Woodard

Rachel L. Woodard, 92, of Nelsonville, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at her son's home in Rockwood, Michigan. She was born March 16, 1919 in Nelsonville, daughter of the late Amos Landon and Nora Ellen Bartoe Steenrod. Rachel was the widow of the late Kenneth E. Woodard.

She graduated from Nelsonville High School in 1937, was a member of the W.N. Club of Nelsonville, a member of Rebekah Lodge #906 of IOOF in Nelsonville and was a member of the Nelsonville United Methodist Church.

Rachel is survived by her sons, Dennis J. Barbara Woodard of Rockwood, Michigan and Nicholas S. Jewell Woodard of Winchester, Kentucky; a daughter, Carol Joe Olivio of Powell, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Woodard; sisters, Eleanor White, Hazel Keating, Lucille Williams, Georgia Evans and Lula McKinney; brothers, John, Orville and Randall Steenrod and a half brother, Floyd Steenrod.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Saturday, March 26, 2011 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, with Rev. Karen Walters officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, from 11 A.M. until the time of the service.
