Clyde Jefferson Crewey, 71, died Thursday, April 7 in Sanford, NC. He was born on April 15, 1939, to the late King and Gertrude Crewey. ""Jeff"" spent his formative years in Charlton Heights, WVa, where he was a proud alumnus and basketball standout of both Gauley Bridge High School and West Virginia Tech.
A lifelong educator, Jeff spent his professional career in southeastern Ohio before retiring in 2003. His love of family led Jeff and his wife and best friend of 45 years, Tamara, to Sanford, NC, to be near their daughters, Jill and Carla. Their life was greatly blessed by the addition of son-in-law Charles and granddaughters Mackenzie and Sydney.
Jeff was an avid golfer, gardener, community volunteer and dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church of McArthur and the First Baptist Church in Sanford.
Besides his parents, he will be welcomed home by his wife, Tamara; brothers, Giles, Donald and Edward; and sisters, Winifred and Cleo.
Jeff will be greatly missed by his daughters, Jill and husband Charles of Sanford, and Carla Crewey of Columbus, OH; sister Juanita Dooley of FL; granddaughters Mackenzie and Sydney Blum; sisters-in-law Mary Lou Crewey of VA; Roxanne Perdue and husband Rick of Wellston; and Christine Gosling of McArthur.
Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 13 at 4:00 pm in the Elk Cemetery, McArthur, OH. The family will then receive friends at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., from 5:00-7:00 pm.
