Ruth Ann Nixon

Ruth Ann Nixon, 69, formerly of Buchtel, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Homestead, Lancaster. She was born December 30, 1941 in Marietta, the daughter of the late Fred and Dolores ""Do"" Wagner Nixon.

Ruth Ann graduated from York High School in 1961. She was a member of the St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church and a former member of the Nelsonville Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and the Nelsonville Emblem Club. In her youth, Ruth Ann enjoyed roller skating, tap dancing and bowling and was once crowned Miss Buchtel.

Ruth Ann is survived by a sister, Nancy Wright of Michigan; nephews, Rocky Denise Wright of Alabama, Bill Wright and John Georgia Wright both of Michigan; aunts and uncles, Jack Shirley Wagner of South Dakota, Roma Bain of California, Paul ""Pig"" Maxine Wagner of Buchtel and Ross Bateman of Athens; several cousins; a brother-in-law, who loved her like a sister, Bill Nancy Wright of Michigan and special friends, Norma Rooker and B.J. Farkas both of Logan.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 21, 2011 at St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church, Buchtel with Father David Cornett officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call from 4-8 PM, Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville.
