William Bill Sharp Graves

William ""Bill"" Sharp Graves, 80, of McArthur, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011 at his residence. He was born September 6, 1930 in McArthur, son of the late Arlin ""Hap"" and Dorothy Sharp Graves. Bill was married to Martha Newman Graves, who survives.

He formerly owned and operated the Graves Marathon Station in McArthur and retired from the Vinton County Highway Department. Bill was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the McArthur VFW and American Legion.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Debbie Mercer and grandchildren, Audra and Douglas Mercer, all of McArthur.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Wednesday, May 25, 2011 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur, with military graveside services being conducted by the McArthur VFW Post #5299. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.
