Beryl E. Bethel, 80, of Allensville, passed away Monday, May 23, 2011 at her residence. She was born October 2, 1930 in Ross County, daughter of the late Raymond and Audrey Stewart Detty. Beryl was married to Merle M. Bethel, who survives.
She retired from Vinton County Schools, was a member of the Allensville Christian Church and was a 50 year 4-H advisor for the Allensville Moonshiners. Beryl was the secretary for Modern Woodsmen and devoted her life to youth programs.
Beryl is survived by her sons, Merle ""Mack"" Linda Bethel Jr. of Allensville and Clifford ""Skip"" Cindy Bethel of Labelle, Florida; a daughter, Melissa ""Missi"" Stormy Robson of Allensville; grandchildren, Matthew, Travis and Christopher Bethel, Melissa Ruzic, Abraham and Alexi Bethel, Audrey Robson, Amy Grigsby and Travis Robson; five great grandchildren; a brother, Hershel Peg Detty of Chillicothe, James Detty of California; a sister, Alice Andrews of Albany; brother-in-law, Jack Temple of Ross County and sisters-in-law, Geneva Detty of Chillicothe and Pearl Detty of Chillicothe.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Pansy Temple and Marge Weaver and brothers Raymond Detty and Marvin Detty.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Friday, May 27, 2011 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Riley Coleman and Rev. Clyde Graves officiating. Interment will be in Bell Cemetery, Vinton County. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 5-8 P.M.
