Thelma Spradlin

Thelma ""Dude"" Spradlin, 81, of Logan, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011 at home, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born February 16, 1930 in South Webster, Ohio, daughter of the late Elmer and Biddie May McCoy Monroe. She was the widow of the late Sylvanus ""Sprad"" Spradlin, who passed away November 6, 2001.

The center of her family, she was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing, gardening and birding.

She is survived by four daughters, Kimberly Sheppard and Valerie Steven Thorpe both of Logan, Sheree Scott Cole of Rockbridge and Kelly Joe Kinneer of South Salem; four grandchildren, Chris Sarah Shelton, Summer Amnah, Laura and Emily Kinneer; two great grandchildren, Connor and Bryce Shelton; three sisters, Rosella Ruggles and Wanda William Spangler both of Logan and Erma Jean Bumgardner of Nelsonville; special friends, David and Keagan Treadway.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two infant sons, Roger Dale and Jeffrey Allen Spradlin; a brother, Oscar Monroe and a sister, Katherine Monroe.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan with Pastor Mike Menrath officiating. Entombment will be at New Fairview Mausoleum, Rockbridge. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
