Oscar W. Ward Jr.

Oscar W. Ward Jr., 79, of Wellston formerly of Hamden, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011 at Jenkins Memorial Nursing Home in Wellston. He was born July 28, 1931 in McArthur, son of the late Oscar W. and Ora Mildred Martin Ward Sr. Oscar was married to Mary Violet Rowland Ward, who survives.

He retired from Austin Powder Company after 32 years of service.

Oscar is survived by his children, Sara Jerry Zinn, Diane Jim Emmert, Debbie Michael Hembree, Frank Bonnie Ward, Adam Annette Ward, John Rhonda Rose and Sharon Mike Lewis; Eighteen grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; brother, Herb Iris Ward; special brother, Clarence ""Beanie"" Jean Ward and sisters, Laura Willis Ankrom and Margaret Salmons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Max, Steve and Harry Ward; sisters, Kathleen Collins and Beverly Ward; two grandchildren and a brother-in-law, Carlos Salmons.

Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Friday, July 1, 2011 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Rodney Rogers officiating. Interment will be in Hamden Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 4-8 P.M.
