Phyllis Louise Bennett, 58, of The Plains, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011 at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens. She was born February 10, 1953 in Nelsonville, daughter of Shirley Louise Koons Sayre of Athens and the late Foster Moody Sayre. Phyllis was married for 33 years to Fred Bennett, who survives.
She was a beloved wife and friend and attended The Plains United Methodist Church.
Phyllis is survived by her siblings, Carol Deb Holcomb Kerr of Rittman, Jean Paul Botts of Canal Winchester, Mary Mark Slater of Athens, Georgia Steve Jewell of Athens, William Sayre of The Plains and Barbara John Duncan of The Plains; a special niece, Hannah Slater Hockman of Nelsonville; a sister-in-law, Mary Bennett of Nelsonville and several beloved nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert George Sayre.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, July 14, 2011 in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 30 Main St., Glouster, with Dr. Gary Wisor officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 4-8 P.M.
