Donald E. Vollmer, 84, of Haydenville, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011 at his residence. He was born April 22, 1927 in Haydenville, son of the late Gerald and Vesper Campbell Vollmer. Don was married for 59 years to Katherine Harris Vollmer, who survives.
He retired from Carborundum and formerly worked for Natco and Doctors Hospital in Nelsonville. Don was a member of the Haydenville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a son, Ken Nyla Vollmer of Haydenville; a daughter, Christy Scott Mender of Haydenville; grandchildren, Julie Vollmer, Kendra Casey Myers, Jeremy Amy Mender, Joshua Jennifer Mender, Ashley Steve Gastin, Shannon Harkless, Sharon Timothy Keith and Sarah Harkless; ten great grandchildren and a brother, Ray Mary Vollmer of Logan.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert Vollmer and his stepmother, Claris Vollmer.
Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Monday, July 25, 2011 in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with Rev. Steve Hubbard and Rev. Ricci Arthur officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery New Addition, Nelsonville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M.
