Calvin L. Knight

Calvin L. Knight, 84, of McArthur, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2011 at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens. He was born August 19, 1927 in Salem, Indiana, son of the late Wincel and Rose Cole Knight. Calvin was married to Bonnie Gambill Knight, who survives.

He was a road contractor with Bizzack Construction Company in Lexington, Kentucky, an Army and Merchant Marine Veteran of the Korean War and a member of Airline Church of Christ in Albany.

Calvin is survived by his sons, Duane Debbie Knight, Dale Annette Knight and Curtis Jones; daughters, Kim James Ousley and Carla Tyke Shaeffer; thirteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Gordon Julie Knight and sisters, Edith Pennington, Imogene Gorman and Linda Rivers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Knight.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Thursday, September 8, 2011 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur with Pastor Willard H. Love officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur, with military graveside services being conducted by the Vinton County VFW Post # 5299. Friends may call at the funeral Home on Wednesday, from 5-8 P.M.
