Earl Edward Eddie Hagerty

Earl Edward ""Eddie"" Hagerty, 79, of McArthur, passed away Friday, September 9, 2011 at his residence. He was born December 10, 1931 in Radcliff, Ohio, son of the late Andrew Joseph and Bessie Molihan Hagerty. Eddie was married to Jo Ellen Kinnison Hagerty, who survives.

He retired from the United States Navy as a chief petty officer electronic technician and retired as Vinton County Superintendent of Highways. Eddie was a Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the McArthur Eagles, an active member of the McArthur VFW, a former President and member of the Vinton County School Board and was a member of MENSA.

Eddie is survived by his sons, Sean Edward Laura J. Hagerty of Waynesville, Missouri, Kevin Gerald Ana May Hagerty of Oak Hill, Ohio and Carlin Andrew Hagerty of McArthur; daughters, Lisa May Hagerty of Grove City, Ohio and Laura Anne Rick Friend of Jackson; grandchildren, Andrew Gilliland, Melynda Cody Caldwell, Blaine Renee Hagerty, Brianna Hagerty, Shelby Hagerty, Tyler Willis, Jordan Willis, Madisyn Friend, Christian Dupree, Justin Hagerty, Carlin Hagerty, Miranda Hagerty and Saylyn Puskas; great grandchildren, Alie Hagerty and Madisyn Caldwell; brothers, Jack Hagerty of Radcliff and Dick Hagerty of Chillicothe and sisters, Dorothy Booth of McArthur, Margaret Taborn of Hamden and Carolyn Dye of Grove City.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Donnie, Harold, Bob and Andrew Joseph ""Joe Bob"" Hagerty and a sister, Rita Hensler.

Graveside services will be held 11 A.M., Monday, September 12, 2011 in Elk Cemetery, McArthur, with Father Donald Maroon and Elder Emmett ""Puz"" Waldron officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Vinton County VFW Post #5299. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Sunday, from 6-8 P.M.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Earl Edward Hagerty to Adena Hospice, 111 W. Water St., Chillicothe, Ohio 45601.
