Mary Lash Nelson

Mary Lash Nelson, 89, of Logan, formerly of Nelsonville, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan. She was born July 21, 1922 in Nelsonville, daughter of the late John Elmer and Grace Ford Turvey Lash. Mary was married for 68 years to Ralph Leroy Nelson, who survives.

Mary was a retired Principle Secretary at Nelsonville York High School for many years and was a former Secretary to the Superintendent of Tri County Joint Vocational School. She attended the Nelsonville United Methodist Church, was a member of Queen Esther Sunday School Class and Circle II at the church. Mary was a member of the DAV Auxiliary, a former member of D of A Lodge in Nelsonville, a member of Tri Psi Sorority and was also a Nelsonville High School graduate.

Mary is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Judy Oliver of Granville, Lynn Daggett of Canal Winchester and Edgar Forde Pete McClain of Nelsonville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul and John Lash and a sister, Anna McClain.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, September 15, 2011 in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with Rev. Rick Bennington officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 10 A.M., until the time of the service.
