Robert Carleton Weedy, 84, of Logan, passed away Monday, September 19, 2011 at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster. He was born March 14, 1927 in Shawnee, Ohio, son of the late Robert D. and M. Ethel Edwards Weedy. Robert was married for 59 years to Sharma Phillips Weedy, who survives.
He was a ceramic engineer who retired as an instructor from Hocking College. He also owned and operated his own engineering and consulting firm. Robert was a WWII Army Veteran, a member of Logan Church of the Nazarene; he wrote a weekly column for the Logan Daily News, was past president of Hocking County Rite to Life and was a director for 18 years for Someone Cares. He was past chairman of Hocking Christian Coalition.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by sons, Dr. Mark Betty Weedy of Carroll and Paul Lisa Watkins Weedy of Gainesville, Georgia; daughters, Kathleen Geis of Westerville, Chris Jimmy Creech Weedy of Raleigh, North Carolina and Becky Weedy of Florence, Kentucky; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Thursday, September 22, 2011 in the Logan Church of the Nazarene, 650 Walhonding Ave., Logan, with Rev. Thomas L. Gates II and Rev. Michael Menrath officiating. Interment will be in Knollwood Cemetery, Logan with military graveside services being conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard. Friends may call at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, on Wednesday, from 5-8 P.M. and on Thursday, one hour prior to the services at the church.
