Harry R. Gathers

Harry R. Gathers, 82, of Lancaster, formerly of Hide-A-Way Hills, passed away Monday, November 21, 2011 at Crestview Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster. He was born April 24, 1929 in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania, son of the late Russell and Grace Barlett Gathers. Harry was married to Patricia Castle Gathers, who survives.

He was a retired salesman for U.S. Steel, an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a Mason and was a member of the Elks.

Harry is survived by his son, Timothy Cindy Petrie Gathers of Lancaster; daughters, Laura Ross Harms of McArthur and Grace Larry Greenwell of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; grandchildren, Jennifer, Christina, Josie and Sam; several nieces and nephews, including Robert Jeanne Foster and a special friend, John Matuszkiewicz.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Mumford.

Harry's wishes were to be cremated. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, from 1 P.M. to 2:30 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Harry R. Gathers to the Ohio English Setter Rescue, Attention, Bill Schuyler, P.O. Box 82459, Columbus, Ohio 43202.
