Gerald W. Robinette, Sr., 76, of Nelsonville, passed away Friday, November 25, 2011 at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster. He was born July 27, 1935, in Aurora, Indiana, son of the late Warren Aaron and Maybelle Kathryn Glab Robinette. He was married to Shirley Williams Robinette, who survives, for 59 years.
Gerald was a farmer, he owned an operated Robinette Hardware for 25 years, served as Chairman of Hocking County Democratic party and served as a member of the Democratic Central Committee in Hocking County. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, was a Starr Twp Trustee for 25 years, and was an avid hunter and sportsman.
In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by two sons, David Susan Robinette and Gerald W. Donna Robinette Jr. both of Nelsonville; a daughter, Yvonne Dave Sufronko of Nelsonville; 9 grandchildren, Jennifer Robinette, David Kyle Robinette, Aaron Jackie Wickmann, Jason Erin Wickmann, Gina Sufronko, Kyle Sufronko, Gerald W. Amy Robinette III, Joseph Renee Robinette and Justin Stacie Robinette; 14 great grandchildren, Austin, Levi, Shawna, Kristopher, Chloe, Ian, and Sydney Wickmann, Morgan, Nolan, and Josslynn Robinette, Cruse and Cayden Short, Aubrey Bateman and Victor Heskett; a brother, Curtis Joy Robinette of Pensacola, Florida and two sisters, Betty Cook of Nelsonville and Jean Scott Dittmyer of La Mesa, California.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Dr. Randy Hardman officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery, State Route 278 S., Hocking County. Friends may call Monday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
