Howard Sherman Scott Jr.

Howard Sherman Scott Jr., 82, of Waverly, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Pike County Hospital in Waverly. He was born August 23, 1929 in Harrison Township, Vinton County, son of the late Howard and Mabel Ratcliff Scott Sr. Howard was married to the late Betty Jane Lee Scott.

He was a retired truck driver, a Marine Veteran of the Korean Conflict and attended Log Pile Church.

Howard is survived by his sons, James Anita Scott of Grove City and Paul Brenda Scott of Galloway; daughter, Joyce Ronald Newman Roberts of Bethel, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; brothers, Neal Cindy Scott, Harold Nola Kay Scott, Curtis Nola Scott, Jerry Linda Scott, Michael Scott and Ralph Scott; sisters, Betty Dixon, Marjorie Atwood and Ann Robert Molihan and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Scott.

Funeral services will be held 12 P.M., Friday, December 16, 2011 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur with Rev. James McFadden officiating. Interment will be in Londonderry Cemetery, Londonderry, with military graveside services being conducted by the McArthur VFW Post #5299. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, from 10 A.M., until the time of service.
