Jimmy L. Martin

Jimmy L. Martin, 77, of Nelsonville, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012 at his residence. He was born August 20, 1934 in Buchtel, Ohio, son of the late Frank and Fern Mae Iiams Martin.

Jimmy retired from Hocking Valley Community Hospital. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the VFW, American Legion and D.A.V.

Jimmy is survived by children, Gena Brian Johnson of Nelsonville, Jimmy W. Laura Martin of Athens, Glenn Paula Martin of Nelsonville and Melody Martin of Buchtel; fifteen grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; two sisters, Catherine Martin of Nelsonville and LaDonna Dennis McGraw of Canton and his very special friend, Anna Gregory of Lancaster.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Estep and brothers, Teddy, Hubert and George Martin.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, January 5, 2012 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville. Interment will be in Whitmore Cemetery, Buchtel where a military graveside service will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-8 PM
