Leota P. ""Lee"" Barrows, 86, of Nelsonville, passed away Monday, January 9, 2012 at Arcadia Acres Nursing Home. She was born March 16, 1925 in Hocking County, the daughter of the late Robert Hutchinson and Bernice Barney Nutter. She was the widow of the late Charles Barrows who passed away in May 3, 1987.
Lee was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Nelsonville and was a member of the Nelsonville Elks Lodge BPOE #543 and the Nelsonville Emblem Club #97. In 1980, she was the Supreme President of the Supreme Emblem Club of the United States of America. From 1946-1959 she was a telephone operator for Ohio Bell Telephone and worked in various departments including Personnel, Engineering, and Customer Service and served as liaison between AT&T, Western Electric and Bell Telephone from 1959-1979 and had multi functioning responsibilities from 1981 until her retirement in 1986.
Lee is survived by a sister, Freda Bailey of Logan; a half brother, Robert Hutchinson of Lancaster; a nephew Rondel and two nieces, Nancy and Patsy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 13, 2012 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, Ohio 45764 with Rev. Peter Galbraith officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends and family may call Friday from 9 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
