Wavelene D. Hewitt

Wavelene D. Hewitt, 83, of Nelsonville, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan following a brief illness. She was born May 25, 1928 in Hocking County, the daughter of the late James and Goldie Belle Six Dupler. She married Arthur Hewitt, who survives, October 14, 1950 and they were married for 61 years.

Wavelene was a graduate of Carbon Hill High School, a member of the Buchtel United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Thea Chapter #192. She devoted her life to raising the family. She enjoyed swimming. Often taking the family to the various lakes but her favorite spot was the Hocking Hills Lodge.

In addition to her husband, Wavelene is survived by a daughter, Debra Bob Horowitz of Orlando, Florida; sons, Steve Mary Hewitt of The Plains and Tom Venis Hewitt of Belleville, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Derrick, Shawn, Christopher, Phillip and Bethany Hewitt and Joshua and Aaron Horowitz; two great grandchildren, Caden and Chloe Hewitt; a sister, Verna William Lunsford of Nelsonville and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Wavelene was preceded in death by sisters, Florence Johnson and Marge Swank and brothers, Donald, Jim, Ken and Clyde Dupler.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, January 16, 2012 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, Ohio 45764 with Pastor David Shoemaker officiating. Interment will be at Conner Cemetery, Buchtel. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home where an Eastern Star service will be held at 7:30 PM.
