Mary Lucile Harkins Climer, 89, of McArthur, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012 at her daughter's residence in McArthur. She was born October 20, 1922 in Vinton County, daughter of the late William and Charity Graves McKnight. Lucile was the widow of the late Everett Harkins.
She was a former cook for Jims Restaurant, Iron Kettle and O'Bleness Memorial Hospital and attended the McArthur Church of The Nazarene.
Lucile is survived by sons, Thomas Harkins of McArthur and James Sook Harkins of Leesville, Louisiana; daughters, Mary Hutchison of Hamden, Linda Haburn of McArthur and Debbie Junior Watson of Athens; grandchildren, Ty Hutchison, Craig Watson, Lisa Harkins, Clayton Harkins, David Harkins and Thomas Harkins; several great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Oscar Climer; an infant daughter; brothers, Charles, Wesley and Roy McKnight and sisters, Sylvia Lee, Mae Loper, Bertha O'Hara, Gertrude Quick and Etta Boring.
Graveside services will be held 11 A.M., Friday, January 27, 2012 in Elk Cemetery, McArthur, with Rev. David McKnight officiating. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Thursday from 6-8 P.M.
