Della Jean Harvey Perry

Della Jean Harvey Perry, 74, of Hamden, passed away Monday, January 30, 2012 at her residence. She was born July 16, 1937 in Fayetteville, West Virginia, daughter of the late Robert and Gertrude Withrow Sampson. Della was married to Wayne Perry, who survives.

She was formerly employed by Goodyear, Hustons Nursing Home, Twin Maples Nursing Home, the Turkey Hatchery, the Pants Factory in Wellston, Ohio University and Lake Hope. Della was a former teacher's assistant and had an associate's degree in accounting and theology. She started the Vinton County Water Company and devoted 10 years of her life volunteering for them. Della also volunteered for various food pantries, was a secretary for Boy Scout Troup #57 in Wellston, she was a former 4-H Advisor and volunteered at Vacation Bible Schools. She was a member of the Wilkesville Chapter #207 O.E.S. and she and her husband Wayne, were Evangelists for churches in Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky.

Della is survived by her daughters, Carol Jean Arthur ""Jack"" Karns Jenkins and Catherine Rick Hayes; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; sisters, Helen Rogers and Gertrude ""Trudy"" Dwight Burwell; stepdaughters, Janice Gary Martin, Clarissa Estep and Bertha Andrew Siders; daughter-in-law, Denise Paul Corbin and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde Harvey Sr.; son, Clyde Harvey Jr.; daughter, Deborah Daugherty and a sister, Bernice Clark.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Radcliff Fellowship Chapel, State Route 160 and State Route 32, Radcliff, with Pastor Gordon Simpson officiating. Interment will be in Radcliff Cemetery, Radcliff. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Thursday, from 6-8 P.M. and on Friday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
