Alice K. Taylor

Alice K. Taylor, 72, of McArthur, passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Twin Maples Nursing Home in McArthur. She was born January 17, 1940 in South Side, West Virginia, daughter of the late Clarence T. and Dora E. Dowell Glenn.

Alice was the Athletic and Attendance Secretary as well as the Assistant Athletic Director for Vinton County High School and was a former beautician at Mac's Beauty Shop in McArthur. Alice was a member of the McArthur United Methodist Church and attended the Wellston Church of The Nazarene with her family. She was a member of the McArthur BPW, the McArthur Civic Club, Vinton County Athletic Boosters, and the Vinton County Ladies Auxiliary AERIE #2279 F.O.E. She was also a member of the Vinton County Athletic Hall of Fame.

Alice is survived by her son, James D. Tracey Taylor of McArthur; daughter, Terrain Mark Haybron of McArthur; grandchildren, Christina, Ashley, Emily, Katey and Asher; great grandchildren, Allyson, Lillian, Onnaleise, Trealynne, Victoria, Ezekiel and Jennavieve; a brother, Denver Dolores Glenn; sisters, Aileen Williamson, Anna Jackie Ochletree and Irene Long; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Louise Hopson, Sally Long, Freda Glenn and Shirley Glenn; a brother, Donald Glenn and a niece, Lorrie Vogler.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Vinton County High School Gymnasium, 63910 US Hwy 50, McArthur, with Pastor James A. Griffith officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the Vinton County High School Gymnasium on Friday, from 4-8 P.M. and on Saturday, one hour prior to the services at the school.

Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.
