Ida Marie Keeney

Ida Marie Keeney, 95, of Buchtel, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Logan Health Care Center. She was born December 11, 1916 in Nelsonville, daughter of the late Fred and Iona Hayden Springer. Ida was the widow of the late Theodore Keeney.

She retired from Ohio University in Athens and was formerly employed at Sylvania Electric. Ida was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #7174 in The Plains and was a member of St. Mary of The Hills Catholic Church.

She is survived by her sons, Bruce Lisa Keeney of Nelsonville and Bill Keeney of Panama City, Florida; daughters, Mary ""Sally"" James Friel of New Straitsville and Nancy Dave Neel of Buchtel; grandchildren, Barb, John, Melissa, Sharon, Karen, Teresa, David, Dennis, Ryan, Marci and David; numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many great friends.

Ida was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Henry and Effie Rardain; sons, Jack Linton and Junior Keeney; daughters, Bobbi and Betty Linton and Marie Ellen Keeney; grandson, Gary Lee Knight; brothers, Harold Springer and Bob Rardain and sister, Alberta Matheny.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Wednesday, March 21, 2012 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, with Father David Cornett officiating. Interment will be in Greenelawn Cemetery New Addition, Nelsonville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 4-8 P.M. where a VFW Ladies Auxiliary service will be held at 7:30 P.M.
