Edwin A. ""Big Fella"" Runge, 86, of Logan, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012 at The Pickering House in Lancaster. He was born July 8, 1925 in Akron, Ohio, son of the late Arthur and Alma Schreiber Runge. Ed was married to the late Anna June Ice Runge, who passed away January 21, 2012.
He retired from Goodyear in Logan and owned and operated Runge Machine and Tool Inc. Ed was a WWII Navy Veteran, a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lancaster, a former member of the Logan Rotary Club, was an avid golfer and a former member of the Brass Ring Golf Club.
He is survived by his children, Brent A. Stephanie Runge of Logan, David Lois Runge of Logan, Rachael August Zandt of Binghamton, New York and Mark A. Susan Runge of Logan; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; a sister, Shirleymae Cottrill of Colorado Springs, Colorado and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Ed was preceded in death by a grandson, Brett Alan Runge and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1400 Concordia Drive, Lancaster, Ohio 43130 with Rev. Dr. John C. Davidson officiating. Interment will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Rockbridge. Friends may call at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, on Tuesday, from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. and on Wednesday, one hour prior to the services at the church.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Edwin A. Runge to The Pickering House, 282 Sells Rd., Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1400 Concordia Drive, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
